SCENES FROM THE 2018 FESTIVAL

2020-MIM-logo-text.png

We regret to announce that the 2020 Music in the Mountains Festival has been canceled for this summer. The Board of Directors of Mountainside Baroque, acting from an abundance of caution in view of the pandemic, felt that a timely decision to cancel the June festival was necessary. Festival musicians, presenters, and audience members come from a wide geographic area and we want everyone to be safe. This action follows the cancellation of the final 2019-2020 concert season performance, Venice and Rome, scheduled for March 29 at the Allegany Museum.

Mountainside Baroque is now working hard planning our 2020-2021 season. We hope to include the festival in modified form as part of this series. In preparation, we are attempting to retain the musicians who were scheduled for the original event in June. Patrons who have purchased admission to the festival or our March 29 concert will be contacted soon about your options.

Especially in this extraordinary time, we take comfort in the generous support the community continues to give our organization and classical music in greater western Maryland.

MBQ Musicians Fund

Supremely talented professional musicians come from near and far to perform as part of the Mountainside Baroque collective. They are all part of the gig economy. In the time of coronavirus and concert cancellations, this means our artists are struggling financially. Moreover, the long-term impact of those personal difficulties on an organization such as ours could be devastating. We are doing what we can by making partial payment of fees performers would have earned with the Festival and the March 29 concert, which was also canceled. Your donation in lieu of a refund will help us do that. If you don’t have tickets but intended to attend the March 29 concert or the Festival, please consider a cash donation in that amount or any other.
