Master Classes & Lectures

Visitors to the “Music in the Mountains” Festival will have the opportunity to appear in or observe special master classes, as well as attend fascinating lectures on a variety of topics. Participation in master classes is by audition. A Festival Pass that can be purchased at the door is required for master class observers. Lectures can be attended via the Festival Pass or individual tickets (details below).

Soprano Ellen Hargis is acclaimed as "a national musical treasure" by Continuo.  She has built a remarkable career specializing in 17th and 18th century music, and has appeared with the foremost period music conductors of the world. CYNTHIA ROBERTS - BAROQUE VIOLIN

Cynthia is one of America’s leading Baroque violinists and has appeared as soloist, leader, and recitalist throughout North America, Europe and Asia. CHRISTOPH HAMMER - FORTEPIANO

Christoph has been hailed as a “poet of the fortepiano” by the Italian press. Numerous recordings document his success, the newest of which features piano works of Carl Czerny (ORF Edition). AUDITION INFORMATION

Audition Submission

Auditions should be via a YouTube submission that is either video or audio (no longer than 10 minutes), with a link sent to mountainsidebaroque@gmail.com. Please make sure that the link provided is accessible (i.e. public, or unlisted) so that the audition panel is able to review your submission. Make sure to consult the audition requirements.

Repertoire

Hargis: 16th-18th century song

Roberts: 17th -18th century solo music 

 

Hammer: Late 18th to early 19th century repertoire (5 octave)

Harpsichord will be available for the Hargis and Roberts classes. Modern piano may be used for the Hammer class audition. Let us know if you are not able to furnish an accompanist on site.

Participation Fee

$75 is due on acceptance. Payments due by June 1, 2018.
