An Appalachian Welcome
From Britain to Blue Ridge
+ Ballad Exhibit
Thursday, June 14 | 3pm
The Allegany Museum
Before there was bluegrass...
there was the ballad tradition.
A concert and an exhibit that tracks the musical connections between the 17th and 18th century British Isles tradition and its inheritors in the Appalachian Mountains. Joining the group will be soprano Rebecca Beasley, violinist Stephanie Raby and the multi-talented Keith Collins with an array of period reproductions of both traditional and Appalachian instruments. As part of the Festival, and the performance, the Allegany Museum will have a featured exhibit highlighting these special connections.
