AMOR ROMA | Music from the Eternal City

Sunday, March 26, 2023 | 4:00 p.m.

The Shrine of Ss. Peter and Paul

125 Fayette St., Cumberland MD

The program is a sampling of the sumptuous music created for 17th century Roman patrons, including the Barberini family. Carissimi and others produced chamber music for both the self-exiled Queen Christina of Sweden and the Collegio Germanico (a school for priests and musicians). In addition to love songs and motets, the concert will feature excerpts from the Orfeo and Euridice story, one of the greatest star-crossed love stories in history, performed by sopranos Jendi Tarde from Dallas and Rebecca Beasley from Atlanta, as well as the harpist, Paula Fagerberg, who charmed everyone in last Fall’s “Gather ye rosebuds” concert.  The women of the Scholars of St. Cecilia, will be also be singing, accompanied by theorbo, viol, harpsichord and Baroque violins.

PAULA FAGERBERG, JENDI TARDE and REBECCA BEASLEY

will be featured in "MUSIC ROMA"

Note: The current status on COVID19 guidelines includes recommendations for masking indoors. We encourage patrons to be up to date with vaccinations as well for the protection of all.
